TAXI

TAXI
Yellow Taxis are waiting for you on every corner and compared to Europe they are quite cheap. For instance a taxi from the Istanbul airport cost around 25 Euro for around 17km. Important to know is that the driver is able to switch the taximeter from day (6-24) “gündüz” to night (24-6) “gece”. At night the price is 50% higher then on the day. The most of taxi drivers are only accepting cash payments. The best way to drive taxi is to negotiate the price before and to ask also for an invoice in front if you need one.

From the Istanbul airport are also running shuttle services to the city centre Taxim for 7Euro per person every 30minutes.
Istanbul is having a quite bad public transport system that is mostly based on buses. The metro lines are quite new and short. There is also one metro that is connecting nearly the city centre with the airport. Feel free to comment that information with a detailed description.
I have never tried to figured out that possibility.
