Bolivia by train

Villazon is the main border station between Argentinia and Bolivia. The train station is about 600m north of the border crossing, and there are two trains, the Expreso del Sur (departs Tuesday and Saturday for Oruro via Tupiza and Uyuni) and the more basic Wara Wara del Sur (departs Monday and Thursday for Oruro, also via Tupiza and Uyuni).
From Uyuni (where most travellers want to travel to Argentina from) the trains to Villazon depart as follows: The Expreso del Sur departs at midnight on Monday and Friday, whereas the Wara Wara del Sur departs on Wednesday and Sunday.
As you can see on the photo, we took the Expreso del Sur from Uyuni to Villazon. The fare (about 12 EUR Uyuni - Villazon for "executive class") is low compared to train fares in Europe, but the "executive class" is not as luxurious as you may expect it to be...
